1.Function Description
POE (Power Over Ethernet) refers to a technology which transmit the data signal for some terminal equipment based on IP(such as IP phones, wireless local area network access point AP , Network cameras, etc.) at the same time can supply DC power to these equipment directly with the condition that the existing Ethernet Cat.5 Cabling infrastructure doesn’t make any change. POE technology can ensure the normal operation of existing network at the precondition of security for existing Structured cabling, and reduce cost to the utmost extent.
POE, also known as the power supply system based on LAN (POL, Power over LAN) or Active Ethernet, sometime it was called power over Ethernet.,which is the latest standard utilized existing standard Ethernet cable to transmit date and power at the same time. While it maintains the compatibility between existing Ethernet system and users. IEEE 802.3af as a extension of existing Ethernet standard , is a new standard based on POE system which increase some related standard about power supply through network cable on the base of IEEE 802.3. It’s the first international standard about electric power allocation.
